Acceleration of spin-polarized proton beams via two parallel laser pulses

چکیده
We present a setup for highly polarized proton beams using two parallel propagating laser pulses that have carrier envelope phase difference of $\pi$. This mechanism is examined utilizing particle-in-cell simulations and compared to single-pulse commonly used magnetic vortex acceleration. find the use dual-pulse allows peak energies 124 MeV good angular spread with normalized vector potential $a_0 = 100$. Compared single pulse, we further observe higher polarization accelerated bunch.

Proton Beam Acceleration with Circular Polarized Laser Pulses*
Recently, radiation pressure acceleration (RPA) has been proposed and extensively studied, which shows circularly polarized (CP) laser pulses can accelerate mono-energetic ion bunches in a phase-stableacceleration (PSA) way from ultrathin foils. For appropriate parameters, CP pulses may accelerate foils as a whole with most of the transferred energy carried by ions. It is found that self-organi...

We present experimental studies on ion acceleration from ultrathin diamondlike carbon foils irradiated by ultrahigh contrast laser pulses of energy 0.7 J focused to peak intensities of 5x10(19) W/cm2. A reduction in electron heating is observed when the laser polarization is changed from linear to circular, leading to a pronounced peak in the fully ionized carbon spectrum at the optimum foil th...
متن کاملDirect Electron Acceleration with Radially Polarized Laser Beams
In the past years, there has been a growing interest in innovative applications of radially polarized laser beams. Among them, the particular field of laser-driven electron acceleration has received much attention. Recent developments in high-power infrared laser sources at the INRS Advanced Laser Light Source (Varennes, Qc, Canada) allowed the experimental observation of a quasi-monoenergetic ...

This article provides an update on my review at SPIN96 [1] on activities surrounding spin polarization in electron storage rings and accelerators. In the written versions of previous talks at the Spin Symposia I have opened with a review of the basic theory of radiative spin polarization, spin precession and resonance phenomena. That background material is readily available in the proceedings o...

A new ion acceleration method, namely, phase-stable acceleration, using circularly-polarized laser pulses is proposed. When the initial target density n(0) and thickness D satisfy a(L) approximately (n(0)/n(c))D/lambda(L) and D>l(s) with a(L), lambda(L), l(s), and n(c) the normalized laser amplitude, the laser wavelength in vacuum, the plasma skin depth, and the critical density of the incident...
